Description
      South Africa: Coastal Region
Firm & Spicy Red
Medium-Full Body - Unoaked
Vegan - ABV 13.5% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Juicy Swartland fruit, savoury spice give a Rhône-style blend with lift, grip and plenty of character.
The Lowdown:
Shiraz, Mourvèdre and a splash of Viognier combine in a dark-fruited blend with spice, texture and drive. Co-fermented for added lift and colour, the Shiraz and Viognier bring depth and aroma, while the later-picked Mourvèdre adds structure and a touch of grip. Black cherry, plum and raspberry lead the nose, with cracked pepper and a flicker of floral lift. The finish is dry and savoury, shaped by soil and sunshine. It's bold, characterful, and rooted in Swartland..
The Producer:
Boutinot has been part of the South African winemaking scene since 1994, originally drawn by a love of Loire-style Chenin Blanc. Since then, they've branched out in all sorts of directions. Their winemaking team - JD Rossouw and Ryno Booysen - bring the energy and enthusiasm, while Samantha Bailey adds a touch of finesse. It's a mix of knowledge, nature, and a bit of science, all coming together to create a versatile and expressive range of wines in a country with 360 years of winemaking history.
When to Drink:
Try it with spiced lamb, roast veg or sausages off the grill, bold flavours welcome the spice and grip.
