Orval Trappiste

One of the most famous and sought after of Belgian Trappist beers Orval is dry hopped and bottle fermented which gives it a real herbal quality and this is its defining characteristic which makes it stand out from other beers. With a quite savoury feel, a touch of caramel and a strong zesty orange pith flavour, it's one of the most distinctive.

Located in the historic Cistercian Orval abbey in the Ardennes Forest, the brewery at l’Abbaye d’Orval is one of the world's few authorised Trappist breweries. Operating since 1931, it produces just one beer, Orval. This beer is brewed, as per Trappist regulations, within the abbey itself under the control of the monks and the sale proceeds go directly towards maintaining the abbey.
