Description
At a Glance:
| Fruity & Bright White | Dry | Light-Medium Body | Unoaked | Vegan | Biodynamic | Low Sulphites | 'Natural Wine' | Sicily | ABV 12.0% | 75cl |
In a Nutshell:
A hazy little Sicilian number - zippy, textured, and not afraid to show its savoury side.
The Lowdown:
This is natural wine without the fanfare. Made from organic Catarratto grown near Marsala, it's fermented with wild yeasts and bottled unfiltered, so it may look a little hazy - but thats part of the charm. What you get is a dry, softly textured white with citrus peel, green pear, and a savoury flick at the edges. It's got grip without heaviness, flavour without fuss, and more character than youd expect at this price. A solid shout if you like things a little wild but still easy to get along with.
The Producer:
The Vesco family, deeply embedded in the Sicilian wine scene, are the ones behind the Ciello label. Their organic vineyards are perched in the hills above Alcamo, an area perfect for cultivating high-quality grapes. In the winery, they stick to natural methods: no fining or filtration, wild yeasts, and minimal sulphur. Yet, their approach is anything but old-fashioned - state-of-the-art equipment and practices ensure precision. The result? Wines as natural as you'll find, crafted with modern standards. It's a blend of tradition and innovation and a beacon of quality Sicilian winemaking.
When to Drink:
Loves lemony seafood, courgettes on the grill or herby chicken - anything fresh that plays nicely with a bit of savoury grip.
