Nicosia Bio Frappato 2025

Frappato is a grape that wasn't much heard of even as recently as ten years ago, but with the growing interest in light, juicy, fragrant reds that are great when slightly chilled, this Sicilian variety has found its niche. An organic wine, made without added sulphites, this is delicate and lightly floral with aromas of strawberry, redcurrant and hints of aromatic herbs. On the tongue, bright red berries balance against a crisp, fresh acidity giving it all a real vibrancy and vivacity. Light, bright and simply refreshing.

Bright and crunchy, this is perfect slightly chilled all by itself and great with salads and vegetable dishes.

Cantine Nicosia, started by Francesco Nicosia back in 1898 and now in the capable hands of the fifth generation has become one the most important producers in the Etna region of eastern Sicily. Their winery in the village of Trecastagni, north of Catania, is where they marry together tradition and state-of-the-art technology. Trecastagni itself is at the foot of one of the extinguished craters dotting Mount Etna and at an altitude of around 700m, is home to the ancient vineyards of Monte Gorna, with their distinctive lava terraces.
