DESCRIPTION
A fresh and fruity Chardonnay from the Limoux region of the Languedoc.
The lowdown:
This is a Languedoc Chardonnay that takes inspiration from the elegant Burgundian whites from the Mâconnais. The fruit is sourced from the cooler higher valleys of Limoux which allows for a slower ripening period and good levesl of acidity. Just 20% of the wine is oaked which helps give it a mere hint of vanilla while ensuring the freshness leads through allowing the flavours ripe pears and peaches to shine. The good crisp acidity give a real freshness to the palate and a refreshingly clean finish.
When to drink:
A very classy southern French Chardonnay that's great by itself or good to pair with fish or roast chicken.
Suitable for Vegans
PRODUCER
Maison d'Alliance France
Born out of a UK importer and distributor Maison d'Alliance is an eclectic band of wine 'tragics' intent on shaking up the world of French wine. Though their French roots run deep, they're an international bunch with a distinctly creative approach to Gallic wines.
Don't expect anything 'ordinaire' though. They work with growers and vignerons across the country to make good value wines that reflect the diversity of France and the colour and humour that the French bring to things.
Their commitment is reinforced by the current, exciting developments in regions such as the Languedoc - a region perfectly suited to Alliance's stated aims of adding value, championing modern classic producers and going beyond boundaries to source characterful, tasty wines that speak loudly of their sense of place and history.
