Description
In a nutshell:
An expressive barrel-aged white, packed with ripe fruit and just a hint of oak for balance.
The lowdown:
'Fermentado en Barrica' signals that this white has had some time in barrel, giving it a subtle toasty, oaky character. But it's not big or heavy - quite the opposite. With ripe tropical fruit, a delicate hint of florality, and a really fresh, bright finish, it's wonderfully balanced. If you enjoy a touch of oak that complements rather than overwhelms the rounded fruit, this spot-on white Rioja is just the ticket. The richness is there without sacrificing freshness.
The Producer:
Situated in the small town of Azagra, on the border of Navarra and Rioja, Bodegas Manzanos is uniquely positioned to produce wines from both renowned regions. Founded in 1890, the real transformation occurred in 2010 when Victor Fernández de Manzanos, his brother David, and Laura Mateo took the helm. They revitalised the winery, introducing cutting-edge equipment and expanding their facilities. Today, they manage several hundred hectares of vines, crafting a diverse array of wines. Their Finca Manzanos, Voché, and Castillo de Enériz ranges brilliantly showcase both contemporary and traditional winemaking styles, embodying the best of both worlds.
When to drink:
This would be lovely with grilled fish or roast chicken, something simple to let its freshness and subtle oak shine through.
Suitable for Vegans
