Luxardo Kirsch Liqueur de Cuisine
An intensely flavoured sweet cherry liqueur from Luxardo of northern Italy.
The Lowdown
Kirsch is probably the best known Eau de Vie and is made from the pure distillate of sour cherries. Intensely flavoured, this is designed for culinary use and is an essential ingredient in a Black Forest Gateau. It can also be used in a range of cocktails.
The Producer
Established in 1821 in the city of Zara (now Zadar) in Croatia by Girolamo Luxardo and still entirely family controlled Luxardo is one of the oldest European producers of spirits and liqueurs. They moved to their current home at Torreglia near Padua in northern Italy in the wake of the Second World War. Probably best known for their maraschino cherry liqueur they also make a wide range of other spirits and liqueurs
