Maganza Zibibbo, Luna Gaia 2025
A crisp and well-balanced, biodynamic Sicilian white full of ripe peach, candied orange peel and a whisper of sea salt.
Dry, Light-Medium Body, Unoaked
Vegan, Biodynamic
The Lowdown
This crisp and well-balanced white hails from Sicily and is made biodynamically from one of the island's signature grapes, Zibibbo - aka Muscat of Alexandria elsewhere. The nose is awash with fresh floral notes of white blossom and honeysuckle, mingling with hints of aromatic Mediterranean herbs. On the palate, it's a juicy explosion of ripe peaches, orange peel, and even a touch of mango, giving a delightful tropical feel. All this exuberance is kept nicely in check by a savoury saline touch and a lip-smacking acidity that cuts through nicely, leaving a clean and refreshing finish.
The Occasion
The floral notes and fragrant aromatics make it a lovely partner for Asian stir-fries, sushi, or plump scallops in a creamy sauce.
The Producer
Luna Gaia is the well-respected co-operative Cantina Orsogna's, foray into Sicilian biodynamic wines. They've partnered with BioGaia, a collective of passionate farmers working vineyards of old bush vines whose roots delving deep into the island's volcanic soils. Their labels might be eye-catching and a bit gaudy, but fear not the wines within are made to a consistently high standard.
