Description
In a nutshell:
An exceptional vintage brut champagne from a superlative champagne house.
The lowdown:
The intense Pinot Noir bouquet includes notes of zesty redcurrants and juicy, sun-drenched peaches and Mirabelle plums. After aeration, the nose evolves towards the more classic aromas of dried fruit and smoky notes combined with a few zesty and spicy aromas. On the palate the fruity aromas gradually give way to sweeter notes of chocolate and even delicate roasted notes. This wine is dynamic, concentrated and powerful, with a texture that is fleshy and vinous with a lovely acidity that incorporates the freshness and concentration of the juice with great ease.
The Producer:
Champagne Louis Roederer was established in 1776 and remains under the ownership of the Rouzaud family to this day. With over 240ha of vineyards located exclusively in Grands and Premiers Crus villages, which contribute their productions to approximately 70% of their non-vintage wines and 100% of their vintage wines. Pioneers in sustainable farming, Louis Roederer use organic practices in their vineyards, and are certified organic in 115ha, with the remainder of the estate in conversion. The house makes a range of champagne styles, all following to guideline of elegant and refreshing yet with an impressive depth of flavour.
When to drink:
With it's fullness it's makes a great champagne to drink with oysters and other shellfish.
