Description
In a nutshell:
A brilliantly light and refreshing white from South Western France.
The lowdown:
This blend of two of southwest Frances workhorse grapes, Colombard and Ugni Blanc, is a lot more than the sum of its parts thanks to it coming from the highly respected Plaimont co-operative. Light and refreshing, yet bright and fruity, its crisp acidity makes it a wonderful, any-occasion white with which youd never go wrong. The Le Lesc range is made by Producteurs Plaimont, the leading wine cooperative in Southwest France who can be fairly said to have revolutionized the region's wine industry since its formation in the 1970s. Led by André Dubosc, the cooperative consolidated three smaller ones, in the process transforming everything from winemaking standards and grape cultivation to the marketing of their products. Based in Saint Mont, their vast vineyards span diverse terrains, producing a wide range of wines, from casual Côtes de Gascogne to prestigious appellation wines. With over 1,000 members and 5,300 hectares of vines, they are a dominant force in the region.
When to drink:
It's the sort of wine you want to have in the fridge ready to open at a moment's notice - the ideal everyday wine. Pair it with grilled fish or a summer salad for a delicious and satisfying meal.
