Description
In a nutshell:
A superlative blend fully deserving of its reputation as one of the ultimate premium Scotch whiskies.
The lowdown:
Since its debut in 1987, this whisky has been a hit, with its premium price never being a deterrent. Today, it remains synonymous with luxurious Scotch whisky. The blend artfully combines malt and grain whiskies from the four main regions - Highland, Lowland, Speyside, and Islay - resulting in a beautifully balanced profile. Rich and subtly smoky with fruity undertones, it captures the essence of top-tier Scotch. It's one that continues to set the standard for elegance and indulgence.
The Producer:
Whilst now one of the biggest Scotch Whisky brands in the world Johnnie Walkers roots can be traced back to one John Walker who owned and ran a grocery business in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. 1857 saw the introduction of Walker's Old Highland Blend which was the forerunner of their iconic Red and Black label blends created in 1909 and were already in their trademark square profiled bottles. It was at this time that the famous 'striding man' figure, which has adorned their bottles ever since, made its debut. It's now a key part of the drinks conglomerate Diageo's stable of brands being one of their pre-eminent labels since the 1950s.
