Description
Champagne
Brut
ABV 12.0% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Gosset's hallmark Champagne - rich yet finely etched, with Pinot Noir lending depth and Chardonnay providing lift and precision.
The Lowdown:
This is where we meet Gosset in its purest form. Grand Réserve is the house's signature blend, built around Pinot Noir for structure and substance, balanced by Chardonnay's brightness and energy. It's generous and full-flavoured, with red and yellow fruits, baked apple and a touch of brioche, yet still defined by freshness and fine tension. Supple in feel and perfectly judged, it shows exactly why Gosset has such a reputation for poise and precision.
The Producer:
Gosset might not be a household name, but among those who know their Champagne it's held in high regard. Based in Aÿ and founded in 1584, it's the oldest wine house in Champagne - pre-dating sparkling wines themselves. A bit later, when the Champagne style began to emerge, Gosset took to it with characteristic energy and quickly earned a reputation for precision and depth. Now owned by the Cointreau family, the house keeps its focus on quality rather than scale, sourcing mainly Grand and Premier Cru fruit from top villages like Aÿ, Avize and Ambonnay. The wines are made without malolactic fermentation, giving them their hallmark freshness and drive. It's a house defined by craft and restraint, producing elegant, structured Champagnes of real clarity.
When to Drink:
Excellent with roast chicken, seared scallops or hard cheeses, where the richness of the wine meets savoury depth while the clean acidity cuts through.
