Description
Champagne
Brut
ABV 12.0% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Pure Chardonnay elegance from Gosset - crisp, mineral and beautifully refined.
The Lowdown:
Gosset built its reputation on richly structured, Pinot Noir-led blends, so this Blanc de Blancs was something of a revelation when it first appeared in 2011. Made entirely from Chardonnay grown in top Côte des Blancs villages, it shows a different side of the house - all precision, purity and poise. Bright citrus and green apple mingle with white flowers and a chalky mineral line, while extended lees ageing brings texture and complexity. The result is elegant, refined and refreshingly taut - a wine that's kept critics very impressed, and rightly so.
The Producer:
Gosset might not be a household name, but among those who know their Champagne it's held in high regard. Based in Aÿ and founded in 1584, it's the oldest wine house in Champagne - pre-dating sparkling wines themselves. A bit later, when the Champagne style began to emerge, Gosset took to it with characteristic energy and quickly earned a reputation for precision and depth. Now owned by the Cointreau family, the house keeps its focus on quality rather than scale, sourcing mainly Grand and Premier Cru fruit from top villages like Aÿ, Avize and Ambonnay. The wines are made without malolactic fermentation, giving them their hallmark freshness and drive. It's a house defined by craft and restraint, producing elegant, structured Champagnes of real clarity.
When to Drink:
Superb with oysters, scallops or sushi, where the mineral precision and crisp acidity enhance every mouthful.
