Glen Elgin 12 Year Old Speyside Single Malt

Historically much of Glen Elgin's output went into blended whiskies and for many years the famous White Horse brand was one that featured large, but more recently single malt expressions such as this have been finding their way into the market. It's got a honey-sweet character, often called fruitcake in a bottle, out of which sweet marzipan fragrances and pleasant sweet wood flavours emerge in abundance. It has a good length with notes of barley and toasted oats coming through.

Founded at the end of the whisky boom in 1898, the Speyside distillery, Glen Elgin was designed by the distillery architect Charles Doig of Elgin. Little seems to have changed in over a hundred years. For generations, this little-known Speyside distillery has lent its distinctive flavour to one of the world’s most famous blends. Fortunately for all Scotch lovers, today Glen Elgin whisky’s honey-sweet character is available to sample in its own right. It's one of Diageo's extensive stable.
