Taut and zesty, this first hits you with tropical fruit and crisp grapefruit with a hint of acacia floating around. Then it's super sleek on the tongue with a touch of almond giving an ever so slightly honeyed texture. Malvazia Istriana is the grape variety and it's generally only seen along the Adriatic coast from northeast Italy to Croatia. It makes for very characterful wines as is amply demonstrated in this delicious bottle.

It's easy to pair this one up, it gets on well with white meats, fish and seafood, and much more besides.

Gasper Wines' vineyards sit in the rolling Collio countryside that straddles the Slovenian border with Italy. A joint venture between the Carman family, prominent in the Slovenian hospitality and wine business, and a local cooperative their aims are to create modern fresh styles from the country's native varieties. Being geologically and climatically similar to the neighbouring Fruili Venezia vineyards of Italy, the area is well suited to the production of quality wines and in the capable hands of its experienced team Gasper Wines are exploiting their opportunities to the full.
