The Lowdown:
This organically farmed red from Terra Alta is very much a Garnatxa-first affair. The grape holds the spotlight, with ripe red berry fruit and a touch of spice carrying the palate. Oak plays its part discreetly - lending texture and depth without taking over. The result is a wine that feels open and generous, yet with sufficient structure to provide definition. And a fresh lift on the finish keeps it balanced and characterful.
The Producer:
Herència Altés was founded in 2010 by Terra Alta native Nuria Altés and her English partner, Rafael de Haan, with the aim of giving fresh voice to a region long overlooked in Catalonia. Today the estate covers more than 60 hectares, where Garnatxa Blanca and Negra dominate plantings and define the character of the wines. Certified organic since 2016, their team works with minimal intervention to capture the clarity of the landscape. In little more than a decade they have played a central role in placing Terra Alta firmly on Spain's wine map
When to Drink:
Best with chargrilled meats, roast lamb or robust vegetable dishes; bright fruit and gentle oak match them well.
