Frapin Chateau de Fontpinot Grande Champagne Cognac XO
In Stock - 2 available
In a nutshell:
A rich, floral and fruit filled single estate XO Cognac from the historic house of Frapin
Made entirely from grapes grown, distilled and aged at Frapins's home Château Fontpinot this single vineyard Cognac is the only one in the region entitled to affix the name Château to the label and all Frapin's vineyards are in the Grand Champagne zone from where the best fruit comes from. It's aged for many years in their dry cellars which gives it its particular character. Subtle and complex on the nose there's candied fruit, hazelnut and marzipan aromas which is followed by a rich, balanced and complex palate with dried fruits, spicy ginger and hints of bitter orange marmalade mingling on the tongue. It's rich and full flavoured but still has the subtlety and elegance for which Frapin is well known.
Frapin are one of the older Cognac houses with a history that can be traced back as far as 1270 and with the house is still owned being owned by a descendant of the founder they're an amazingly long standing family concern. After starting out as winegrowers they soon settled on distilling which was to make their name. They're fortunate to own 240 hectares of vineyards surrounding their home at Château Fontpinot in the village of Segonzac. All their vines are in the zone classified as Grande Champagne which are considered the best sites of the entire region. All of their Cognacs, including their wonderful 'Trésors du Château' range of aged and vintage Cognacs are made entirely on the estate.
