In a nutshell:
A robust, full and exuberant traditional style of Late Bottled Vintage.
Late Bottled Vintage denotes a port from a specific year that's been allowed to age in cask for a number of years before bottling. When labelled unfiltered, as here, they should be decanted before serving because they may contain sediment. With exceptional body and grip produced primarily from foot-trodden wines from Fonseca's own vineyards their Unfiltered LBV is intense, firm and long on the finish, with an impressive depth and complexity in the rich Fonseca style. This shows in the intensity and compleity of the dried fruit flavours and impressive depth. Signing off it has a wonderful mouthfeel and lingering finish full of flavour.
When to drink:
It's a great port to finish a meal with especially with full flavoured and mature veined cheeses.
