Märzen is a traditional Bavarian style that was originally brewed in March (hence the name) each year with a higher strength and more hops so that they would last through the summer period when brewing wasn't allowed under local laws. Their popularity has meant that these days they're more often brewed year round, as is Flötzingers', to meet demand. It's a nicely full-bodied and malty beer with clean lines and refreshing finish.

Founded back in 1543 Flötzinger Bräu is the oldest and last remaining independent brewery in the Bavarian town of Rosenheim which sits about 50km southeast of Munich. It's a brewery that's no stranger to winning awards for its beers many of which have a devoted following.
