Finca Manzanos 1890 Blanco Vinas Viejas, Rioja 2024

This delicious white Rioja, a blend of mostly Viura with a dash of the rare Tempranillo Blanco, is a treat. It's got a lovely weight, balanced perfectly with bright, zippy acidity. Aged for four months on its lees in a mix of French and American oak barrels, it picks up a subtle touch of creaminess and spice. You’ll be greeted with sweet peachy aromas, citrus, and tropical fruits, which follow through on the palate. A well put together wine, combining a mix of fresh, fruity flavours with a silky oak finish.

Great with salt cod croquettes, grilled hake, or a plate of jamón and almonds - the ripe fruit and creamy texture of the wine works beautifully with salty, savoury flavours, while its fresh acidity keeps things bright and balanced.

Situated in the small town of Azagra, on the border of Navarra and Rioja, Bodegas Manzanos is conveniently positioned to produce wines from both of these regions. Founded in 1890, the real transformation occurred in 2010 when Victor Fernández de Manzanos, his brother David, and Laura Mateo took the helm. They revitalised the winery, introducing cutting-edge equipment and expanding their facilities. Today, they manage several hundred hectares of vines, crafting a diverse array of wines. Their Finca Manzanos, Voché, and Castillo de Enériz ranges brilliantly showcase both contemporary and traditional winemaking styles, embodying the best of both worlds.
