Description
In a nutshell:
A fresh, crisp unoaked white Rioja with bright citrus and green apple notes, balanced by a subtle hint of creaminess.
The lowdown:
This unoaked white Rioja, made mostly with Viura and a touch of Chardonnay, bursts with fresh fruity aromas, particularly apricot, which makes it really inviting. On the palate, it's rounded and smooth, with a long, pleasant finish that lingers just the right amount. Fermented in stainless steel, it's kept clean and vibrant, while the time spent on its lees gives it a nice bit of weight without going overboard. There's no oak here, so it's all about the fruit and freshness, making it easily enjoyable and still managing to have a nice bit of depth.
The Producer:
Situated in the small town of Azagra, on the border of Navarra and Rioja, Bodegas Manzanos is uniquely positioned to produce wines from both renowned regions. Founded in 1890, the real transformation occurred in 2010 when Victor Fernández de Manzanos, his brother David, and Laura Mateo took the helm. They revitalised the winery, introducing cutting-edge equipment and expanding their facilities. Today, they manage several hundred hectares of vines, crafting a diverse array of wines. Their Finca Manzanos, Voché, and Castillo de Enériz ranges brilliantly showcase both contemporary and traditional winemaking styles, embodying the best of both worlds.
When to drink:
This is great with paella or any seafood, but it's also lovely on its own when you just want something easy and refreshing.
Suitable for Vegans
