Description
In a nutshell:
An intense, opulent Amarone, brimming with rich black cherry, fig, and a hint of dark chocolate, all wrapped up in velvety tannins and a warm, lingering finish.
The lowdown:
The secret behind Amarone lies in its winemaking: grapes are carefully dried to concentrate their flavours, a painstaking (and rather pricey) process, but one that pays off in character. Fabiano's offers layers of rich black cherry, fig, and a hint of dark chocolate, creating a lovely complexity. Velvety-smooth tannins give it a velvety mouthfeel, while the warm, lingering finish is very compelling. Undeniably bold, but it carries itself with effortless finesse
The Producer:
Vini Fabiano's story starts in Venice just before the First World War when Francesco Fabiano first set up shop. He must have been onto something, as he found success selling wines around town and slowly expanded across Veneto and northwest Italy. By the late 60s, they'd made quite a move, establishing a sizeable estate in Sona, nestled between Verona and Lake Garda. Today, it's Alessandro Fabiano at the helm, following in his father Nicola's footsteps. Their range now includes Veronese specialities, prosecco, and regional varietals, but their prized Amarones and Valpolicellas remain the real jewels in the family crown.
When to drink:
A perfect partner for indulgent dishes like braised short ribs or venison stew, as its deep, dark fruit and chocolatey richness match the intensity and robust depth of the food beautifully.
