Description
In a nutshell:
Rich and full of character, this organic Chilean red blend is packed with dark berries, plum, and blackcurrant, along with hints of spice, cedar, and smooth, easygoing tannins.
The lowdown:
Coyam is Emiliana's flagship and quite the showstopper. It's named after the oak forests surrounding their Colchagua estate. Made from their best grapes, with Carménère leading the way, it's full-bodied and packed with redcurrant, strawberry, and blackberry aromas. A full 18 months in oak adds loads of character, while flavours of liquorice, vanilla, and a hint of violet unfold as you go. Bold, grippy tannins give great structure, pulling all the big, bold flavours together. Rich, layered, and full of personality, it knows how to make an impression.
The Producer:
Viñedos Emiliana is one of Chile's most exciting and trailblazing producers, leading the way in organic and biodynamic winemaking. Founded in 1986 by brothers Rafael and José Guilisasti, the winery has gone from strength to strength, especially with renowned winemaker Alvaro Espinoza on board since 2000. They farm nearly 1,000 hectares across regions such as Casablanca, Maipo, Cachapoal, Colchagua, and Bio Bio, crafting award-winning wines that showcase the best of these areas. Their biodynamic vineyard and winery at Los Robles is a global showpiece, drawing visitors from all over. Innovative and natural, their wines are crafted with care and it shows.
When to drink:
Grilled beef and lamb dishes, especially in spicy sauces, are a perfect match, as the rich dark fruit, spice, and firm tannins stand up beautifully to strong flavours - good if you crack it open an hour before drinking.
Suitable for Vegans, Organic
