Duvel Tripel Hop Citra
This intensely hopped version of Duvel bursts with citrusy grapefruit, zesty lime, a crisp bitterness and all the finesse you'd expect.
The Lowdown
Tripel Hop Citra is a strong Belgian blonde with the hop intensity dialled up a notch. Joining the classic Saaz and Styrian Golding hops is Citra, straight from Washington's Yakima Valley, adding vibrant tropical fruit and zesty citrus to the mix. The result is a bold, hoppy punch balanced by a smooth, bubbly finish and more than a hint of bitterness. Everything you'd expect from a Duvel, but with an extra aromatic kick.
The Producer
With a rich history dating back to 1871, Belgium's Duvel-Moortgat, who are based south of Antwerp, was only saved from closure in 1970s when it agreed to distribute a rival Danish beer. The brewery has gone from strength to strength since and was an early investor in the craft beer scene in America. Apart from their well regarded label Duvel, Moortgat owe much of their recent success to acquisitions within Europe and America with the purchase of Brasserie D'Achouffe, De Koninck and Boulevard Brewing Company, Kansas to name only a few. Other iconic beers from this brewery include Maredsous abbey ales and Vedett.
