Domaine Horgelus Gros Manseng & Sauvignon 2025
A brightly fruity, expressive white from the sunny hills of Gascony, bursting with citrus, tropical fruit, and a refreshing zing.
Dry, Light-Bodied, Unoaked
The Lowdown
A characterful blend of two aromatic grapes - Gros Manseng, a Gascon speciality, and Sauvignon Blanc, which needs no introduction. Together, they make a brightly fruity, zippy white with plenty of personality. Ripe melon and citrus leap from the glass, with a subtle herbal lift. On the palate, Gros Manseng's richness balances Sauvignon's classic nettle zing, with juicy tropical fruit and a refreshing streak of minerality. A slightly fuller take on Sauvignon, but with a distinct Gascon twist that makes it all the more interesting.
The Occasion
Zippy, refreshing, and a joy on its own, but it really shines with seafood - grilled sea bass, garlicky prawns, or a classic seafood platter, where the bright fruit and crisp freshness work a treat.
The Producer
Domaine Horgelus sits in a sunny part of Gascony, historically better known for Armagnac but increasingly making a name for its wines. Founded in 1978 by Breton Joseph le Menn, the estate is now run by his son Yoan, for whom winemaking is playing an ever bigger role. While their Armagnacs are impressive, the wines from their modern, state-of-the-art winery are just as noteworthy - reliably good, expressive, and showcase the best of the region's terroir and local grape varieties.
