Description
In a nutshell:
An impressive aromatic and fruity Lebanese white wine, from the Bekaa Valley.
The lowdown:
This is quite a delight and full of spicy, white peach characters and a sublime jasmine perfume. On the palate, its fresh and bursting with peach and apricot flavours. The grapes are grown at 1,000m on 15-20-year-old vines rooted in gravel and limestone soils. Hand-harvested and traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks, the wine undergoes gentle clarification after blending. The result is a beautifully balanced wine with an impressive backbone of elegant minerality, making it both refreshing and complex
The Producer:
Domaine des Tourelles, founded in 1868 by Frenchman François-Eugène Brun, holds the title of the oldest winery in Lebanon. The Brun family maintained ownership until 2003, when it was passed to the Lebanese Issa and Issa el-Khoury families, who have since brought the estate into the 21st century. Their vineyards, situated in the prime locations of the Bekaa Valley, are organically farmed. In the winery, they adopt a minimal intervention philosophy, using natural yeasts for fermentation and avoiding fining or filtration, with minimal sulphur use. Not just the oldest, Domaine des Tourelles is also one of Lebanon's finest wineries.
When to drink:
Best suited for Mediterranean style dishes with white fish.
Suitable for Vegans
