In a nutshell: A perfectly pale pink and elegant Provençal rosé.
The lowdown: La Vieille Tour's vineyards are fortunate to be situated in the best area of the Côtes de Provence area with a very particular micro-climate and sandstone clay soils and with the benefit of an ultra modern gravity fed winery they're able to produce exemplary wines. This is a classic blend of, picked by hand, Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault and is a perfect, pale, raspberry-pink wine that is very drinkable. The delicate aromas are followed by lovely sweet fruit from Grenache grapes. It's altogether very well balanced with good depth of flavour and a refreshing finish.
When to drink: Lovely on a summers day serve chilled accompanied by seafood, Mediterranean dishes, or just by itself. Not bad either at any other time of year whenever a classic rosé is what you're after.
Domaine de la Vieille Tour is a 22 hectare Côtes de Provence estate situated between Pierrefeu and Cuers west of Saint Tropez. The Domaine's vineyards benefit from lying in a slight geographical depression which has a particular micro climate, encouraging long and even ripening of the grapes. Grapes for the rosé, Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault, are cultivated on sandstone clay soils and harvested by hand, before being transported to a very modern, gravity-fed winery.
