Description
Pilsner
Czechia
ABV 4.8% - 50.0cl
In a Nutshell:
A classic Bohemian pilsner, fuller-bodied with a touch more malt sweetness and crisp Saaz hop bitterness.
The Lowdown:
f you want the Czech pilsner most likely to be found in its natural habitat this is it. Klíc 12° doesn't cut corners. Pilsen malt leans into its richer side, giving honeyed bread notes and a rounded middle that feels more substantial than some of its leaner cousins. Saaz hops step in with grassy bite and brisk bitterness that pulls everything back into line. The result is fuller and rounder but still with the sharp-edged snap that defines the style.
The Brewery:
Nestled in northern Bohemia, close to the German border, Pivovar Cvikov is a great spot for those who appreciate traditional brewing with a modern twist. Though the original brewery shut down in 1968, it re-opened in 2014 and now turns out cracking small-batch, Bohemian-style beers. The brewery's been spruced up beautifully, blending old-school charm with updated touches - well worth a visit for some good beer and a bit of history.
