The Producer:
Crown Royal was created as a gift to King George VI and Queen Elizabeth to mark their visit to Canada in 1939 and such was its success that its been continually produced ever since. The distillery is in the small Manitoba village of Gimli on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. Apparently, there are more barrels of whisky stored here (1.5 million) than there are people in the state of Manitoba itself. The continued popularity of the brand keeps it as a best seller both in its home country and abroad and these days there are several more expressions made in addition to the original version.
