In a nutshell:
A light, fruity and distinctively smoky single malt Irish Whiskey
Named after the wild and remote part of western Ireland Connemara is, unusually for Irish Whiskeys, a peated single malt. And if you're a fan of classic Islay whiskies this is certainly one to take a look at. It's light and fruity with a distinctive smoky, peaty aroma. Silky smooth on the palate and with a fruity and malty flavours giving way to full bodied peat it's certainly got plenty going on. The finish is nicely honeyed followed by a blast of pungent peat smoke to sign off with.
When the doors of the Kilbeggan Distillery were shut in 1953, the people of Kilbeggan could've easily accepted defeat. They could've acknowledged that times had changed, and that fate had dealt them more than their share of bad breaks. They would do no such thing. The distillery meant too much to too many in the town. They would never let it's smokestack be reduced to a monument, no matter what the world threw at them.
