Description
France: Bordeaux, Right Bank
Mellow & Rounded Red
Medium-Full Body - Lightly Oaked
Vegan - ABV 13.5% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Merlot-led Saint-Émilion with ripe plum and cherry fruit, supple structure and fine tannins rounded by a short spell in barrel.
The Lowdown:
As modest Saint-Émilions go, this one punches comfortably above its weight. Château Milon's Cuvée Caprice is pure Merlot, full-bodied and plush with plum and black cherry fruit at its heart. A short spell in barriques brings a touch of spice and smoothness, while fine tannins give it shape without hard edges. There's freshness too, which stops the richness from feeling heavy. Plenty of what makes Saint-Émilion special is here, but without the château-trophy price tag.
The Producer:
Domaines Bouyer is one of the many small, family-run estates that make up the patchwork of Saint-Émilion. It's made up of the Saint-Émilion pair Clos de la Cure and Château Milon, plus the tiny Clos 56 just over the border in Pomerol. The family have farmed these vineyards for generations, following a lutte raisonnée approach that balances tradition and sustainability. The latest generation, Louis Bouyer, joined in 2024 after gaining experience across France and South Africa. They might not shout about their wines, but theyre consistently well-made and represent solid value from this prestigious region.
When to Drink:
Spot on with roast lamb, beef or mushroom dishes, where ripe fruit and fine tannins stand up to hearty flavours.
