Château L'Escarelle 'Les Deux Anges' Rosé, Provence 2025

Bone-dry and finely etched, this is a pale rosé with crisp, mouth-watering acidity, red-berry and stone-fruit flavours and a twist of herbs and citrus. Organically farmed fruit from Escarelle’s inland vineyards underpins that freshness: the vines sit at elevation away from the coast, so the grapes ripen in cooler conditions. Time on fine lees adds texture and smooths the edges without softening the clean, refreshing finish.

Dry, refreshing rosé like this works a treat al fresco on its own or with food; great with grilled fish, salads and simple Mediterranean plates where its bright acidity hits the spot.

Château de l'Escarelle is a substantial estate by Provençal standards, with around 100 hectares of vines planted at elevations of up to about 500 metres above sea level on the flanks of the Montagne de la Loube, giving a slightly cooler, fresher profile than many coastal domaines. Viticulture here dates back to the 18th century, but it is since 2014 – when entrepreneur Yann Pineau took over and modernised both vineyard and winery – that Escarelle has really started to make its presence felt. The vineyards are threaded through some 1,000 hectares of largely untouched scrub and woodland, and the estate has become a beacon for sustainability and conservation, with organic and HVE certification and a strong emphasis on biodiversity and low-impact farming.
