DESCRIPTION
A medium-bodied, spicy and characterful French red from near the mouth of the Rhône.
The lowdown:
The vineyards in the Costières de Nîmes area close to the Mediterranean from where this wine comes benefit from extensive sunshine and the cooling maritme effect of being near the sea. Made from 50% Syrah, 30% Mouvedre and 20% Grenache it has lots of wild thyme herbiness on the nose and a really clean, fruity and spicy palate with supple tannins.
When to drink:
A real thirst-quencher and perfect if you're after something with a bit of structure and depth that isn't too heavy. With food it's great with things like grilled, or roast lamb.
Suitable for Vegans
PRODUCER
Chateau L'Ermitage

Vines have been grown around Château l'Ermitage in Saint-Gilles just outside the Camargue for several centuries with records of l'Ermitage of Costieres producing wine for pilgrims en route to Santiago de Compostella as far back as the twelfth century.
Currently the vineyards extend to 80 hectares on southern Rhône sandstone soils. Being south facing, overlooking the Camargue, in summer Mediterranean sea breezes help keep temperatures in check preserving the freshness and aromatics of the grapes.
Jérôme Castillon, is from the current generation running the estate and his efforts have very much helped in raising the reputation of wines from the Costieres de Nimes and surroundings to where they are today.
