Description
Champagne
Brut
ABV 12.0% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Grower Champagne from the Uabe region led by Pinot Noir, combining brisk freshness with subtle richness from extended lees ageing.
The Lowdown:
This grower bottling from the Aube blends 60% Pinot Noir with equal parts Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Three years on lees bring depth to its crisp frame, layering apple and citrus fruit with a biscuity edge. The result is a balanced Champagne that shows freshness alongside measured richness, handled with polish and restraint.
The Producer:
In the Aubes Côte des Bar, Bernard Robert are one of the areas impressive Grower Champagne producers. Founded in 1945 and based in Voigny, third-generation Sébastien is currently at the helm. They farm 30 hectares across nearby communes on chalk-limestone, practising lutte raisonnée and growing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Meunier and a touch of Pinot Blanc. The house style is Pinot Noir-led, clean and supple, with extended lees ageing for finesse and yields reliably skilful results.
When to Drink:
Excellent with oysters or roast chicken, where its lively acidity and savoury depth prove particularly effective.
