Chambord
A delicious blackberry and raspberry fruit liqueur originating from the Loire Valley in France.
The Lowdown
Chambord is made with blackberries, raspberries, Madgascan vanilla and Moroccan citrus peel which is steeped in cognac and sweetened with honey. With all these components it's got several layers of flavour but, happily, is not cloyingly sweet. It's used in all sorts of cocktails or, more simply a teaspoon or two added to a glass of fizz is great fun.
The Producer
Originally inspired by a drink made at the Loire Valley's Château de Chambord for King Louis XIV when he visited in the seventeenth century Chambord was first introduced commercially back in 1982 and is still made in this part of France.
