Description
In a nutshell:
A delightfully dry 100% Garganega from the Veneto in North East Italy.
The lowdown:
Vines have been grown on the volcanic soils between Vicenza and Verona, just east of the Soave region, since Roman times. The Garganega grape, a local specialty, thrives in these conditions is what goes into this. The result is pleasantly dry and delicately scented wine, with a pronounced minerality and a long finish. You'll also notice a hint of spice and some lovely peachy aromas. There's a lot going here for a modest outlay.
The Producer:
Established in 1947, Cantina di Gambellara is found in the town of the same name, roughly halfway between Vicenza and Verona. This cooperative boasts around 300 grower members, with vineyards spanning over 600 hectares. Many of these vineyards are rooted in volcanic soils, which impart a distinctive richness and aromatic quality to their wines, a hallmark of the cooperative's production. Cantina di Gambellara is all about capturing the essence of their unique terroir, creating wines that reflect both tradition and the vibrant character of their volcanic landscape.
When to drink:
It's ideal as an aperitif and with food try with grilled fish or prawns and langoustines.
Suitable for Vegans
