The Lowdown:
Alvaro Palacios is one of the winemakers credited with establishing Priorat, which comes from hilly Catalan countryside inland from Barcelona, as one of Spain's leading red wines. His wines are always reliable and sought after and his Camins del Priorat is one of his dependable and affordable cuvees. A blend of Garnacha, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cariñena, Merlot, it's got pronounced aromas of blackberry, blueberry, toffee, herbs and spices. The palate is rich and smooth with powerful fruit flavours plus spice, tar and oak all coming through. It's quite a complex wine with fairly robust tannins and a fresh, vibrant finish. It's got great length too.

Álvaro Palacios is the winemaker who put Priorat on the map, transforming a remote Catalonian region into one of Spain's most revered fine wine regions. Born into a distinguished Rioja family, he left tradition behind to pursue his own path, combining steep slate hillsides with an almost scholarly obsession for detail. From the cult status of L'Ermita to the wider reach of Les Terrasses and Camins, his work has redefined the conversation around premium Spanish wine, uniting history, geology and precision in the glass.
When to Drink:
With a full, powerful body it's lovely drinking already and pairs well with simply cooked grilled, or roasted meats especially lamb, or beef.
