The lowdown:
This XO Calvados is Berneroy's signature blend. It's aged for around 10 years in small French oak barrels which impart layer upon layer of complex flavours. It has a superbly rich and golden colour. On the nose there's a sublt spiciness among the oaky characteristics while on the palate indulgent flavours of baked and caramelised apples mix with notes of cinnamon spice, vanilla, butterscotch, a slight nuttiness and a hint of citrus. Wonderfully smooth and rounded this deserves being savoured as an after-dinner digestif.

Calvados, Normandy's famous apple brandy, has been produced in the historic Pays d'Auge region for centuries and Calvados Berneroy, steeped in this tradition, is one the leading producers. Their master blenders employing time-honoured methods, and well honed expertise create a range of distinctively fruity calvados expressions which capture the very essence of the local orchards and make use of the over 180 named apple varieties authorized for Calvados production.
