In a nutshell: A rich and spicy southern Italian red from the Puglian heel of Italy.
The lowdown: This is made from 100% Negroamaro, one the area's native grape varieties which produces deeply coloured, plump and succulent wines. After fermentation in stainless steel it's aged for just under a year in French and American oak barrels which gives rounds off the tannins and gives it a smooth and velvety texture. The aromas and flavours are a quite heady mix of red cherries, black plums and vanilla before it rounds off with a long spicy finish.
When to drink: This is a wine with plenty going on and will make a good partner to game, mature cheeses.
