The lowdown:
Made using entirely Scottish grown barley Bruichladdich think of this unpeated single malt as their signature bottling. With a hint of sea spray among the fruity and floral aromas on the nose, it has a refreshing palate with flavours of sweet oak and barley with ripe green fruit, brown sugar and sweet malt on the long and warming finish which hits a good balance between bright, ripe fruit and bracingly saline hints.
The Producer:
Bruichladdich is an Islay distillery with roots and traditions that reach well back into the 19th century whilst fully embracing the challenges and opportunities of the 21st. Production is very much focussed around single malts with the Bruichladdich label being used for unpeated expressions, Port Charlotte being used for classic Islay peated styles and the premium Octomore range for some of the most heavily peated Scotch Whiskies you'll find. Very much committed to locally sourced ingredients, all the barley they use is Scottish grown, with a good proportion coming from the island of Islay itself. Look out also for their Botanist gin.
