Description
In a nutshell:
A quite delicate and honeyed peach liqueur from Maison Briottet of Dijon.
The lowdown:
All the Briottet range of fruit crèmes are made with real fruit rather than confected sugar syrup. This means that when macerated with the neutral alcohol and sugar the full flavours and aromas of the fruit is allowed to shine through. With flavours and aromas of fresh peaches and a sweet hint of meringue it has a lovely delicate honeyed quality. Makes a perfect Bellini along with a little peach purée and Prosecco and is also great poured over a fruit salad.
The Producer:
Edmond Briottet was originally established as a negociant in 1836, but by around 1900 production of fruit crèmes, liqueurs, brandies and marc de Bourgogne had taken centre stage for them and so they moved away from the wine business to concentrate solely on these products. Currently heading up the business is Gérard Briottet, the fourth generation of the family, and he's focussed on maintaining the traditions of his great grandfather Edmond Briottet which shows in their excellent range of drinks.
