Description
Spain: Duero Basin
Firm & Spicy Red
Medium-Full Body - Oaked
ABV 14.5% - 75.0cl
In a Nutshell:
Structured, elegant Ribera del Duero from 50 year old vines - power and finesse in good balance.
The Lowdown:
Corimbo is to Ribera del Duero what Roda is to Rioja - top-level wines, both Tempranillo, both from the same winemakers, exploring the subtle differences between the two regions. Corimbo I takes the best fruit from 50+ year-old vines to make something that strikes a balance between Ribera's power and a restraint that keeps it poised. Deep black fruit, firm tannins and real minerality come through, along with cocoa and dark plum notes with barrel ageing bringing integration and polish. A wine with serious style and proper credentials.
The Producer:
Bodegas La Horra was established in 2009 by the renowned Rioja producer Bodegas Roda who were keen to explore the potential of the up-and-coming Ribera del Duero region. Since then, they've become one of the standout producers in the area and their wines, under the Corimbo label are now very highly regarded. With a focus on quality and a deep respect for the region's unique terroir, Bodegas La Horra has quickly made a name for itself.
When to Drink:
Roast lamb is the classic food match, but griiled, or roasted beef and game work similarly well.
