An exquisite London Dry Gin distilled and bottled in Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey.
The lowdown:
A unique gin in that it's made with English juniper berries handpicked from Box Hill in Surrey. This and the use of only the finest ingredients in perfect union make, what they term their 'Type 1097' truly exceptional. It has a refreshing, zesty flavour and a warm and aromatic feel with a cleanly cool aftertaste.
The best way to serve it is in the perfect G&T with plenty of ice, good tonic and garnished with a sprig of fresh mint.
The Producer:
Neil Beckett is the person behind Kingston-upon-Thames' Becketts Gin. A chartered engineer by trade he dramatically switched track in early 2013 into an industry in which he had no previous experience and armed with just a desire to create his own distinctive style of gin. Local provenance is an important factor for him. Juniper is the key botanical in all gins and whereas most distillers source theirs from overseas, Beckett's is infused with locally sourced juniper harvested from Box Hill in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Juniper is, in fact, in decline in this country and Neil has, in conjunction with the National Trust and Forestry Commission, undertaken a project to create a new sustainable population of the shrub on the heathlands of Box Hill. Beckett's gins are a locally produced spirit we're pleased to have on our shelves.
