In a nutshell:
A classic full flavoured and aromatic Piedmontese Nebbiolo.
Along with its neighbour Barolo, Barbaresco has a wonderful pale, transparent colour that belies the intense aromatics and full flavoured palate. There are complex flavours of plum, spice, liquorice, leather and violets which mingle and evolve in the mouth. Anf it has a supreme balance of structured power and floral elegance. There is no other grape like Nebbiolo and Michele Chiarlo's Barbaresco from the Reyna vineyard in the picturesque rolling Piedmont hills is a great example.
When to drink:
The silky texture and sheer elegance of this pairs really well with feathered game like partridge or pheasant or well hung fillet steak. Avoid overly rich suaces.
