Situated in the town of Nuova Gibellina at the western end of Sicily Baglio Gibellina make a range of excellent value wines using local and international varieties in the surrounding hilly vineyards of the Trapani province. They are a part of the Biscardo group of wineries who come from the Veneto on the north of the country. Maurizio Biscardo, who has consulted for a number of well known wineries across Italy, came across them and being impressed by the quality of the fruit took them on board. The wines from here are characterised by an easy drinkability, aromaitc purity and, in particular, exceptional value for money.
An interesting footnote is that their base, in Nuova Gibellina, is a new town that was built from scratch about seven miles from the orginal settlement of Gibellina which was destroyed in a series of earthquakes in 1968 which demonstates the seismically active nature of the local terrain.
