This Puglian red, a blend of Merlot, Primitivo, and Negroamaro, is made using the appassimento method, where the grapes are partially dried, resulting in a concentrated and flavour-packed wine. The bouquet is intoxicating, brimming with warm spices, chocolate, and vanilla. On the palate, it's full-bodied with ripe black fruit flavours, while the tannins are soft and approachable, contributing to a well-balanced wine. This is undeniably a big wine, yet it avoids being a bruiser, and makes for delicious full-flavoured drinking.
The Producer:
Family-run since 1928, Botter has grown into one of Italy's most established wine producers. From their base in Veneto they work closely with partner vineyards and wineries the length of the country, from the northern hills to the far south. It's those relationships that underpin their scale, giving them access to a broad range of grapes and styles while keeping quality firmly in view.
