Angostura 5 Year-old Caribbean Rum

Angostura's 5 Year Old blends together a careful selection of rums each of which have been aged for at least five years in ex-bourbon casks. The result is a flavourful and exceptionally smooth rum which is pleasingly aromatic with light woody notes of chocolate, spice, vanilla, toasted oak flavours and nuances of tropical fruits that provide a remarkably warm and mellow finish. Perfect enjoyed neat as a sipping rum, or alternatively, over ice.

Perhaps most famous for their bitters, Angostura are also well-known distillers of rum. Based in Port of Spain, Trinidad the company''s mainstay Angostura Bitters was originally created in the 1820s for treating stomach ailments in Venezuela where their creator Dr. Siegert was surgeon general to Simon Bolivar's army. Exported to England soon after, Angostura grew its reputation through a fondness for mixing it with gin. Siegert's sons relocated the company to its present home in Trinidad in the 1870 and the company rebranded from Dr. Siegert’s Aromatic Bitters to the name we know today.
