Amrut Fusion Single Malt
An Indian Single Malt from the Amrut distillery
The Lowdown
Amrut were the first to make a single malt in India and have since gone from strength to strength. A fusion of Indian and Scottish barleys are used to create a big and smooth whisky with smoke and peaty aromas. Rich, complex and warming flavours.
The Producer
Founded in Bengaluru, formerly Bangalore, Amrut Distilleries started in 1948 making a range of alcoholic drinks but properly hit their stride in the 1980s with the advent of their malt whiskies. In India, whisky definitions are more relaxed than elsewhere, so Amrut brought in Scottish whisky expertise to ensure their products met global standards. Their dedication paid off, with Amrut Fusion being rated among the top 3 whiskies in the world in the 2010 edition of Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.
