Description
In a nutshell:
Bright, juicy, and effortlessly fresh - classic Veneto vibrance.
The lowdown:
Valpolicella at its most effortless - bright, juicy, and made for easy drinking. A textbook example of the region's style, it's packed with fresh cherry, raspberry, and redcurrant, plus just a whisper of cinnamon spice in the background. Soft, rounded tannins add enough weight to keep things satisfying, but really, it's all about the youthful, vibrant fruit. The balance of freshness and juicy ripeness makes it as easy to enjoy on its own as it is alongside food. Clean, refreshing, and straight to the point - no fuss, just pure, juicy drinkability
The Producer:
Alpha Zeta was created in 1999 by UK wine importer, David Gleave MW, and renowned New Zealand winemaker, Matt Thomson with the belief in the possibility of making great wines in the Veneto region of Italy at everyday prices that still fully express the character of both the grape variety and the land. They realised that the key is to marry local grape growers with impeccable winemaking. All Alpha Zeta wines are made from indigenous grape varieties grown in the hills north-east of Verona. The flavours of the grape shine through in the glass offering great value, quality and balance.
When to drink:
Great on its own, great with food - this is spot-on for a classic Margherita or pepperoni pizza. It' also a winner with tomato-based pasta dishes like spaghetti allAmatriciana or a simple penne arrabbiata. The bright, juicy fruit and fresh acidity slice through rich sauces like a hot knife through butter.
