Aguazul Organic Verdejo, Rueda 2025

Rueda, in the Duero valley northwest of Madrid, has become a well-respected white wine region that can also still be very good value. This is a good case in point. It's 100% Verdejo with ripe lemon and a touch of tropical fruit run through it, and a herbal twist of fennel on the finish keeping things lively. It's a textbook expression of the Rueda style - bright, zesty and easy to drink, with more going on than you might at first think.

The vibrant, zestiness here is a perfect match for Mexican dishes like fish tacos or chicken enchiladas, but it's also lovely just as an aperitif.

Bodegas Pisuerga, one of Rueda’s oldest wineries, is dedicated to crafting classic Verdejo from their organically certified vineyards around the small town of La Seca in the heart of the Rueda DO. The objective is straightforward: produce exquisite wines while looking after the environment. They use cover crops and organic manure to enrich the soils and keep disease at bay, allowing for a more hands-off approach in the vineyard. And at the winery, the close-knit team of oenologist's and winemaker's target is a pure expression of Organic Rueda Verdejo. It's a successful blend of tradition, sustainability, and craftsmanship.
